The Color Room Blog Hop/ Palette # 50

Hi eveyone!!
Welcome to the Color Room’s First annual Blog HOP

Photobucket

We are celebrating our 50th Palette, and we have some amazing things to share with you this week. This week´s Palete is a whitewashed Boys room Palette in monochromatic blues (with grey tones)

You can see more details about this palette and all the beautiful creations with it from our amazing DT Here

You have just come from Karola’s blog, loved her project this week - she´s amazing!!!

Here is what I created from the ‘whitewashed’ His Room Palette. A layout that I called "Feeling blue but still shining

Some things you may not know about me......

1.    I am from São Paulo/Brazil but I live in a city called São José dos Campos. I am currently Designing for The Color Room, Hambly Screenprints, Crate Paper, Webster´s Pages, Yummy´s (a Brazilian online store), {Entreartistes} magazine, Pencillines and Creative Therapy.

2.    I Live with my husband Flavio, my 8 year old daughter Isabela (aka Bebel) and her hamster (She wanted a dog or a little sister - so, the hamster - Lili - was a very nice bargain!).

3.    On my desk right now you will find.......
Must-haves: good scissors, a trimmer, sprays, anything I can use as masks and papers are perfect for me. The rest we adapt. I like to think about a layout as finished in which you put embellishments to add volume, an overlay or rub ons to add contrast, using inks, pens or just layers of papers and dyes.

4.    My favorite colors to work with at the moment are palettes taken from my personal photos or photos I want to use as an inspiration to create a layout. I use Pictaculous tool to find a palette. This tool takes an image of your choice and generates a selection of color palettes based off of it. With a simple upload you can turn an image or your own photo into a functional palette.
After getting the palette, I just play with watercolors or colored pencils to try it.

5.    What kind of themes do you often scrap?
I make scrapbooking as an excuse to deal with Art. I  need to work with art everyday, it´s my therapy. I’ve lost the day where my chores prevent me from cutting some paper but, anyway, my mind is always planning something new. So, I´m mostly working inspired by my inner emotions.

6.    Where do you scrap?
In my scraproom, but I don´t usually create anything sitting on that chair. As I don´t have a big table, but I need a lot of space to create, I like to spread things on the floor all over the place until it gets completely surrounded by papers, tools, paint and pictures.

7.    What is your scrapping process?
I never know what I’m going to create, I’m like Picasso. If I knew exactly what I was going to create, I wouldn’t even lose time with this. Sometimes it’s a paper that calls for something or an inspiring picture. I’ve abandoned any storytelling projects with my scrapbooking. What I really want to do is make art and expose my inner emotions, which are deep in the core of my being. They are things that probably only I understand. I don’t work with sketches unless I’m obliged by a purpose. I have some designs I like working with and I see I always end up taking this path. Nowadays, I set my scrapbooking pages with jigsaw puzzles, just testing. I always let my emotions flow otherwise, I don’t have much pleasure. I also accept mistakes, with no hard feelings, and I’ve learned it’s possible to transform everything. I just go ahead and test everything, really.

8.    My favorite food is chocolate.
Have I ever told you about a Brazilian dessert called "brigadeiro"? It´s delicious!

9.    My top 3 favorite tools are scissors, trimmer and the Big Shot.

10. I get my inspiration from absolutely every, everything! I pay close attention to movies, books, magazines, fashion, products, windows of stores, people, my thoughts, my daily life, alternate materials, works of art and I specially give attention to my inner emotions and to my daughter’s little childish world.

11. Describe a Technique you used on your project this week........

I started playing with this palette by gathering some inspiring things and playing with watercolors.

Then, when I felt inspired, I stamped a white cardstock with versamark and embossed the image with the heat gun and Zing opaque white.

 Materials Needed:

White cardstock
Acrylic block
Sprays and Glimmermists (Tattered Angels)
Zing! White opaque embossing powder
Clear Stamp (Heidi Swapp)
Heat Gun

After that, I sprayed Tattered Angels  glimmermists and used it as my background working with layers and layers of paper strips to create a design inspired by the amazing TCR sketch.

So cool! It looks like a Parisian Anthology Paper, don´t you think?

My layout is called "Feeling blue but still shining" -  it´s about the way I feel  right know - even though I´m feeling blue, I can shine trhough my photos, my pages - through Art - and that´s the way I like to work -  I make scrapbooking as an excuse to deal with Art, to play with papers`- it´s my creative therapy!

Please feel free to try this technique on your challenge this week join the Color room and participate HERE

Remember to leave a comment answering the question below to be in the running for this weeks special prize

What is my favorite tool?

Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope to see you here again in the future!

Larissa I loved reading about you, and getting an insight into that creative mind ..... golly if you are Picasso I am so Van Gogh. LOL. Oh and bravo for being an artist who creates for self expression and not always to tell a story. I think there is room for both lines of interpretation in this genre. Love what you have done ... but you know I love your work. xo
